Thanks to Beier and Guirassy: a liberation for BVB

Thanks to Beier and Guirassy: a liberation for BVB

Borussia Dortmund presents itself as if it were a different match against RB Leipzig. After a strong-willed performance, Nuri Sahin and BVB finally have reason to celebrate again.

No more crisis at BVB: Against RB Leipzig, Nuri Sahin's team showed a completely different face than in the past few weeks and achieved a sorely needed victory. After the 2:1 (1:1) there is a good mood again in Dortmund, while Leipzig's Marco Rose has to accept his first defeat of the season.

Benjamin Sesko had given RB the lead – almost out of nowhere – (27th). After a pass from Benjamin Henrichs, Lois Openda set the ball up for Sesko with his heel, the Slovenian slammed the ball under the crossbar past BVB substitute keeper Alexander Meyer and into the goal.

Beier as if he had been replaced

But BVB came back impressively. After a corner, the ball landed at Maximilian Beier, who cleverly poked the ball past Péter Gulácsi from four meters and was able to celebrate his first goal of the season (30th).

Afterwards, Beier looked as if he had been replaced and was brimming with self-confidence. In the 65th minute, the new signing asserted himself on the right flank, drove the ball into the box and found a strong header in Serhou Guirassy – which meant BVB took a 2-1 lead (65th).

The eminently important winning strength not only the coach, well-known sports director Sebastian Kehl in an interview with Heaven. “The victory strengthens us all and of course we need victories at the end to bring a little more peace into the whole store.”

The question as to why BVB does not act like this is justified. “We will of course have to look at this and use it as an example and take the next step in this development,” assured Kehl.

Dortmund, hit by injuries, had to cope with another loss on Saturday evening with Marcel Sabitzer, and Jamie Gittens and Ramy Bensebaini also appeared injured.

New personnel concerns at BVB

Sabitzer had to go down after 67 minutes – Ayman Azhil replaced him. Gittens was replaced a short time later by Donyell Malen (79th), Benseba trageni fought his way through and contributed to the Dortmund collective dragging itself to victory with the last of its strength.

For Sahin, after three setbacks in the Champions League, the league and the DFB Cup, it was the fifth win in the fifth home game, and one with which the recently controversial coach certainly gained arguments for himself.

“The pressure was great when you lost three games in a row and were also eliminated from the DFB Cup during the week. But we believe in ourselves, believe in this team, in what we have built here. “We know that we are good at home and we beat Leipzig,” said Kehl happily.

BVB climbs to fifth place in the table (16 points), while Leipzig has to let Bayern go and remains in second place, three points behind (20 points).
