“That '90s Show” was canceled by Netflix after two seasons

The 90s are officially over.

“That '90s Show,” the follow-up series to “That '70s Show,” has been canceled on Netflix after two seasons, franchise star Kurtwood Smith wrote on Instagram on Thursday evening.

“I know you've been asking me when Season 3 is coming, but I have some hard news…Netflix will not be renewing the series,” Smith, who stars as Red Forman, wrote on Instagram. “I just want to take a minute to say THANK YOU to all the fans around the world who supported and watched the show. When I'm traveling, you've come up to me in random parts of the world and reached out to me on social media and have just been so wonderful. I loved every minute of bringing Grandpa Red to life for you all. I've said it before, but it's worth saying again… This show has so much heart and the most wonderful cast, writers, directors, producers and crew for an actor to work with. Thank you for letting Red and Kitty, their grandchild, all of their grandchildren's friends and neighbors, the original cast of That 70's Show, and all of our wonderful guest cast entertain you for two seasons. To steal Red Forman's words: We won't be fools, we'll buy the show, because good grandparents would go to great lengths to get these kids a high school diploma.”

“That '90s Show” brought Smith, Debra Jo Rupp as Kitty Forman, Laura Prepon as Donna Pinciotti, Topher Grace as Eric Forman, Ashton Kutcher as Michael Kelso, Wilmer Valderrama as Fez and Mila Kunis as Jackie Burkhart from the original “That '90s Show” cast the “70s Show”. Set two decades later, the sequel series followed Leia Forman, Donna and Eric's daughter, as she spends the summer with her grandparents.

The 10-episode first season of the series premiered on Netflix in 2023 and billed itself as Part 1 of the series. Season 2, expanded to 16 episodes divided into parts 2 and 3, ends in August 2024.
