The Boston Bruins' debut 100th anniversary jersey honors their 100-year legacy

The Boston Bruins are celebrating their centennial game in style by unveiling special jerseys on Thursday. The limited edition sweater will be worn on December 1st against the Montreal Canadiens.

This date marks the 100th anniversary of the Bruins' first game against the Montreal Maroons on December 1, 1924.

The look combines several elements of the past with a vision for the future. One example is the anniversary crest, which combines the vintage spokes worn by legends Bobby Orr and Ray Bourque with the varsity “B” that the franchise has worn since 2007.

The jersey is inspired by the 1980s, a decade in which the Bruins had four 100-win seasons, and embodies the franchise's core values, according to a press release. The sleeves and socks are gold and feature a modern take on traditional stripes, a nod to previous players who wore the Spoked-B.

A new Centennial patch commemorates December 1st and brings back the metallic gold accent around the Bruins bear.

“The Centennial Game will be a special moment for our organization and especially for our fans, so the jersey design had to fit the occasion,” said Boston Bruins President Cam Neely. “There are so many elements for both fans and players to enjoy.”

A Neely highlighted element appears at the bottom hem. The team's core values ​​- tradition, courage, passion and heart – are embedded there, along with the result of the first game depicted on the collar.
