The Bruins were defeated by the Flyers 2-0

The Flyers came to the Garden on Tuesday having allowed 4.44 goals per game through their first nine games. Easy prey for the Bruins?

Yeah right. There is no such thing for the B team in 2024-25.

The B's went 0-for-4 on the power play, including a long 5-for-3, and fought the puck all night long en route to their second shutout loss of the young season, this time a 2-0 loss to the visiting B's Philadelphia.

Tyson Foerster scored in the second period, and thanks to the Flyers' 26 blocked shots, it held until Joel Farabee scored an empty-net goal. The defeat wiped out a good performance from Joonas Korpisalo (17 saves).

Thanks to several excellent saves from both goalkeepers, the first third remained goalless. Young defenseman Mason Lohrei had brutal trouble with the puck early on, which ultimately led to him being benched for a few shifts later in the first game.

But when he and his partner Charlie McAvoy couldn't clear the puck early on, Korpisalo saved them. A poor start by the Bruin had Bobby Brink half the net to shoot, but Korpisalo, playing his first game since Oct. 16, made a great save.

The B's had a great chance to take the lead when Brad Marchand was checked and 23 seconds later David Pastrnak hooked, giving the B's a 5-on-3 for 1:37. But the B's had a lot of fun when the Flyers somehow managed to take away their shooting lanes and take advantage of the extended two-man advantage. They also needed Korpisalo, who made a big stop against the Flyers' shorthanded team as the first penalty expired, moving left to thwart Garnet Hathaway on a 2-on-1.

The B's, who had an 11-7 shot advantage, had their best chance when Andrew Peeke took the puck deep and fed Elias Lindholm for what looked like a tap-in, but Sam Ersson somehow made it to thwart Centeman. Peeke also hit a post later in the period.

The Flyers took the lead with 5:32 to play. The B's were losing puck battles on both blue lines and eventually Emil Andrae fed Tyson Foerster in the high slot and he was able to beat Korpisalo under the pads with a hard wrist strike for a 1-0 Flyers lead.

The B's then immediately gave the Flyers a power play, which they were able to fend off.

Morgan Geekie, who was struggling on offense, gave the B's another power play chance when he sank a flyer in the offensive zone and Morgan Frost retaliated with a high stick. But the B's, playing tentatively at the rim, didn't put the puck in the net until Justin Brazeau's tip was gobbled up by Ersson as the PP was winding down.

The Flyers had 17 blocked shots and more passes thwarted in the first 20 minutes, frustrating the Bruins. The B's had a 10-6 lead in the second period, but took the lead by one goal in the third period.
