The Commanders' Jayden Daniels throws an 18-yard TD to Terry McLaurin

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – Washington Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels has excelled this season by executing touchdown passes on throws with little chance of completion. He did it again on Sunday to end the first half against the New York Giants.

With six seconds left in the half, Daniels connected with receiver Terry McLaurin for an 18-yard touchdown pass and threw a perfect ball over the head of cornerback Deonte Banks for a 21-7 lead.

McLaurin got Banks to bite by faking inside and then cutting outside. This put Banks in retreat mode and McLaurin caught the pass.

Daniels came into the game with an NFL-high four touchdown passes with a completion chance of 30% or less. Additionally, NFL Next Gen Stats estimated that this touchdown had a 25% chance of being completed.

Daniels finished the first half going nine-of-11 for 113 yards and two touchdowns. He connected with McLaurin on a one-yard slant pass for a touchdown in the first quarter.

Daniels now has nine touchdown passes for the season.
