The Duke basketball phenom's twin brother is staying home for college

It would have added to the hype if Ace Flagg, who announced his home-state college commitment Tuesday night, was on Maine's roster for the Duke basketball team's regular-season opener at home against the Bears on Monday at 7 p.m. ET (ACC Network). would have stood (ACC Network).

Of course, Blue Devil fans would also have been happy to see the twin brother of Cooper Flagg, current freshman center in Durham and projected final top draft pick, one day suit up for Jon Scheyer.

But unlike Cooper Flagg, who is now on track to become the second-youngest college player of all time, according to ESPN's Jonathan Givony, Ace Flagg is in the middle of his senior year at Greensboro Day School (NC) when the Twins from Maine turn 18 December 21st.

Cooper was initially in the same class as Ace, but was ultimately reclassified. That made sense, of course, considering he's just old enough — and certainly far enough on the court for his age — to be eligible for the 2025 NBA Draft.

And although Ace Flagg was alongside his brother and longtime Blue Devil enthusiast for a Duke basketball visit along with last year's Countdown to Craziness before returning to Durham on Oct. 4 to watch this year's edition, he never reported an offer from Scheyer's recruiting team in Durham.

Ace Flagg, who played alongside Cooper Flagg at Montverde Academy (Florida) prep team last season before transferring to Greensboro Day School for his senior season, is a 6-foot, 180-pound, accomplished three-hitting forward -Star rating in the eyes of Rivals and ESPN, but does not have a rating or ranking to his name on 247Sports and On3. According to ESPN, he ranks No. 45 among small forwards in the cycle and No. 2 overall in North Carolina.

He had offers from Maine, West Virginia, Richmond, Florida Gulf Coast, St. Joseph's and George Washington.

Perhaps the Duke basketball program will arrange another meeting with Maine in the coming years for some sort of flag meeting at Cameron Indoor Stadium.
