The first trailer for Ali Wong's new Netflix animated series looks sick

In the new animated series from Netflix Jentry Chau versus the underworlda Chinese-American girl (played by comedian Ali Wong, who also serves as an executive producer on the series) must harness the supernatural powers she has suppressed her entire life to fight a group of demons from the underworld. The first teaser for the show reveals the legion of Chinese folklore characters Jentry must fight against, all in bright neon colors, and also Jentry trying to fit in and just be normal while surviving the humiliating ordeal of small-town high school.

In short, this looks like a show I would have completely binged in high school (and let's be honest, I will). Despite it eat).

“Sometimes finding your identity means facing your own demon,” series creator Echo Wu told Tudum. “That means different levels. In Jentry, that sounds quite right. She tries to figure out what these powers mean to her. Are they part of her? Do they curse them? You see this character trying to figure out who he is.”

The show features an all-star Asian American cast including Wong, Bowen Yang (Fire Island), Lori Tan Chinn (Orange is the new black), Lucy Liu (Kill Bill) and Jimmy O. Yang (Silicon Valley).

Jentry Chau versus the underworld Premieres on Netflix on December 5th.
