The knee injury that forced Puka Nacua to miss Thursday's practice was not structural and does not preclude receiver potentially playing Week 9 with the Seahawks

WOODLAND HILLS, Calif. – Rams head coach Sean McVay said Friday “fortunately there's nothing structurally wrong” with Puka Nacua's knee after the wide receiver was injured during practice Thursday.

McVay said Nacua will not practice Friday and is listed as questionable for Sunday's game against the Seahawks in Seattle (1:25 p.m. PT, FOX), but would not rule out the possibility of playing.

“I wouldn’t bet against this guy,” McVay said. “I expect him to do everything he can to be ready to play and that’s the attitude we have.”

McVay said Nacua “went down” during Thursday's practice but did not need fluid removed from his knee. The knee Nacua injured on Thursday was the same knee he injured in a joint preseason practice with the Chargers and also against the Lions in Week 1.

“I think the good thing about it is what the hope and expectation is, is that sometimes when you do that, after an injury, it scares you more than anything else, right where you may have torn up some scar tissue,” McVay said. “If you look at the picture, structurally it was really encouraging. But then sometimes you can get a little fluid and then that can limit some of your mobility. But getting that out of there, talking to (Rams vice president of sports medicine and performance) Reggie (Scott) about what his expectations are, knowing how Puka is going to attack in the next few days, it's not something I'm worried about, except we want to keep our man off the floor.”

McVay also said he doesn't expect the receiver to have to deal with Nacua's knee injury for the rest of the season.

“It’s not like it’s knee arthritis or anything like that,” McVay said. “It was just kind of unfortunate that there were the two incidents that we talked about and then yesterday. And we hope it was more of a scare than really anything else.”
