The Phoenix Suns star shares honest thoughts about the 76ers' Tyrese Maxey

The Philadelphia 76ers didn't get the desired result in their Monday night matchup against the Phoenix Suns. Although the Sixers came up short against their Western Conference rivals, they once again had a phenomenal performance from their young veteran guard Tyrese Maxey.

After Monday's contest, Suns superstar Bradley Beal discussed taking over the job of guarding Maxey. He didn't hold back his true thoughts as he went into it.

“He’s a tough guard, man,” Beal said with a smile.

The three-time All-Star then revealed that he had been working with Maxey over the summer. Everything he saw from the former first-round pick on Monday night was nothing new. However, there was still a shock factor for Beal.

“It’s so crazy to see all the moves and rebounds he did tonight. He did all of that this summer,” Beal added.

Maxey played 41 minutes against the Suns on Monday night. With 22 throws from the field, the young guard knocked down over 50 percent of his attempts. Maxey made six of his 14 shots from three.

Philly's point guard scored a team-high 32 points in Phoenix.

“I’m really excited about the job of guarding guys. I think this is just another level I can tap into,” Beal concluded. “Of course he still had a good night, but my job is to make life harder for everyone. Let them take a lot of hard, contested shots — and he took a lot of hard shots because he’s capable of it, he’s an All-Star — but he’s a special talent.”

Since facing Beal as a member of the Washington Wizards, Maxey has shown a lot of potential for the 76ers. By his second year, he was a full-time starter. Last season, Maxey took over the Sixers' top point guard position from start to finish, resulting in a season filled with accolades.

While Maxey had some early growing pains this year, playing in five games without an All-Star supporting cast, he is once again delivering at an All-Star level. In six games, Maxey has averaged 30 points, four rebounds and two steals per game.

The next step he needs to take is to find consistency again in the efficiency department while increasing support production. Paul George's presence should help moving forward.
