The Washington Commanders defense had its best performance yet against the Arizona Cardinals

The Washington Commanders allowed just 14 points and scored 42 points in their win over the Arizona Cardinals in Week 4 at State Farm Stadium.

The Cardinals entered the game as a top-five offense, and that should be a big challenge for the Commanders, who have already given up 30 or more points twice this season. However, Dorance Armstrong, Bobby Wagner and Co. showed their best performance of the season.

Wagner, the unit's veteran leader, praised Armstrong after his 1.5-sack performance.

“It’s always good,” Wagner said of Armstrong’s performance. “With every game I feel like everyone is growing. That's what you want to do. So when you have people who just stand out and continue to grow, you just want to do that. Now we want the next person to do it, and the next person, and then we all do it together.”

The energy surrounding the defense not only aligns with Wagner, but everyone on the unit seems to be on the same page.

“I think I was just ready to play,” Armstrong said after the game. “We feed off each other, the boys play left and right. It's contagious.”

The defense didn't get going as well as it wanted, but now it appears that the players are finding a rhythm that should make them more dangerous as the season progresses.

The Commanders are back in action next weekend at home against the Cleveland Browns.
