Today's top weather news: Oscar turns deadly in Cuba as new storm hits Pacific

The Oscar for the deadly tropical storm is aimed at the Bahamas

The impact of Tropical Storm Oscar has left at least six people dead in Cuba, while the weakening system is once again taking aim at the Bahamas, where it made landfall for the first time over the weekend.

Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel made the announcement a day after the storm made landfall Category 1 hurricane.

Oscar made landfall just before 6 p.m. ET on Sunday near Baracoa in Cuba's Guantánamo province Winds at a speed of 80 miles per hour – the second landing of the day. Early Sunday, Oscar made his first landing on Great Inagua Island in the Bahamas.

Since this is not Nadine's original print, the National Hurricane Center has assigned her the next name on the Eastern Pacific naming list – Tropical storm Kristy.

Kristy is expected to intensify into one hurricane until Wednesday. However, the FOX Forecast Center said the storm is not expected to impact land areas as it remains over the open waters of the Eastern Pacific.
