Trump told ABC that he expects a winner to be announced on election night

In a phone call with ABC News chief Washington correspondent Jonathan Karl on Sunday morning, Donald Trump said he had a “significant lead” and predicted the winner would be known by election night.

Karl asked Trump if he thought there was any way he could lose.

“Yeah, I guess, you know,” Trump replied. “I guess you might lose, you might lose. “I mean, that happens, right?” he said. “But I think I have a pretty big lead, but you could say, yeah, yeah, you could lose. Bad things could happen. You know, things happen, but it’s going to be interesting.”

When asked when he would inform the country of the election results, Trump said: “I'll be out there at the right time.”

The former president spoke with Karl after another busy day of campaigning, which ended just before midnight on Saturday.

“I don’t think anyone has ever met my schedule before,” he said. “The big thing is, can the voice hold up?”

He added: “Nobody has ever done what I've done and it's big rallies and huge enthusiasm.”

In the final days of the election campaign, Trump launched a belligerent state attack. After making a sweep of western states last week, he spoke at rallies in Michigan and Wisconsin on Friday and twice in North Carolina on Saturday, with a detour to Virginia, where he believes he can win. After calling Karl, he headed to rallies in Pennsylvania, North Carolina and Georgia on Sunday.

Citing Brazil-based polling firm AtlasIntel, which describes itself as the “most accurate” pollster in 2020, Trump said he was leading in all seven battleground states.

Asked when he plans to address the country on Election Day, he said: “I'll be out there at the right time.”

Trump took issue with Karl's reporting on “Good Morning America” that Trump's message at his rallies was not as disciplined and focused as some of his campaign advisers would like.

“I was just watching,” Trump told Karl. “They said my message was everywhere. That’s not the case.”

Karl pointed out that Trump himself has talked about how his speeches jump from topic to topic, what he calls “the weave.”

“You see, the weave got me elected president,” he said. “Yeah, it's one of those things, but, but the tissue is a good thing. Nobody else can do it. Very few people can do that.
