Verizon wireless customers in Palm Beach County are experiencing a service outage

WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – A nationwide cell phone outage got West Palm Beach resident Irene Martin's work week off to a bad start.

“I couldn’t make a phone call. I tried again and again. “I tried several times and just couldn’t get it,” Martin said. “So I decided to take a trip to the Verizon store.”

Martin was one of 100,000 Verizon customers who reported the problem. She said her iPhone was in “SOS” mode – which had a negative impact on her workday.

“I just couldn't do anything today. “My whole day was wasted,” Martin said. “My whole day.”

According to tech outage aggregate tracker Downdetector, most outages were reported on the East Coast. Martin argued that it prevented her from making — and receiving — business calls.

“I had to do some work and I don't even think emails went through,” Martin shared.

WPTV's Zitlali Solache reached out to Verizon Wireless, who sent back this statement:

“Engineers are making progress on our network issue and service restoration has begun. We know how much people rely on Verizon and apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused some of our customers today. We continue to work around the clock to fully resolve this issue.”

As Verizon announced Monday night that the network issues had been fully resolved, Martin said she hopes she doesn't have to go through this again.

Verizon is already working to restore service in areas devastated by Hurricane Helene last week. Georgia and North Carolina are among the states that suffered the most damage.
