Oregon wide receiver Traeshon Holden was ejected from Saturday night against No. 2 Ohio State for “spitting on an opponent,” according to Ross Dellenger of Yahoo Sports.

The incident apparently occurred in Eugene in the second quarter.

Holden recorded a 32-yard catch before the altercation involving Ohio State cornerback Davison Igbinosun.

The NBC broadcast appeared to show Holden throwing his helmet as he walked through the tunnel after being ejected.

Holden's exit wasn't the only notable event in the first half of this Big Ten matchup, which was also highlighted by a would-be Oregon interception that set up a catch for Ohio State and a turbulent miss on an extra-point attempt by the Ducks scoring turned into a score for the Buckeyes.

Holden is in his fifth collegiate season, second at Oregon after beginning his college career at Alabama.

He transferred to Oregon before the 2023 season, where he was one of the Ducks' third options behind Tez Johnson and Troy Franklin with 37 catches for 452 yards and six touchdowns.

Franklin then moved to the Denver Broncos in the NFL, giving Holden the opportunity to achieve more goals and make a breakthrough in 2024.

Entering Saturday, Holden had 19 catches for 274 yards and three touchdowns in five games while serving as the secondary target for Dillon Gabriel behind Johnson.
