The Republican vice presidential candidate, Senator JD Vance, completed the vote first and only debate against his Democratic counterpart, Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz, by sharply criticizing policies put in place during the Biden administration.

The senator from Ohio said in his closing statement of the debate: hosted by CBS Newsthat he believes all Americans should be able to afford basic necessities such as warmth, housing and food.

“I believe that whether you are rich or poor, you should be able to afford good food for your family. This has become even more difficult because of Kamala Harris' policies. I believe that whether you're rich or poor, you should be able to afford it.” “You should be able to afford to buy a home, you should be able to live in safe neighborhoods, your communities shouldn't be flooded with fentanyl, and that too has become more difficult because of Kamala Harris’ policies,” he said.

Vance said Harris proposes many policies that she would like to implement on her first day in office, but “she's been vice president for three and a half years.”

“Day One was 1,400 days ago and their policies have made these problems worse,” Vance said.

He warned that viewers will not be able to achieve the American dream if they elect Harris as president in November.

“We need changes. We need a new direction. We need a president who has done this before and done it well. Please vote for Donald Trump,” he said.
