Bangladesh will play against South Africa in the first Test of the two-match series at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur Dhaka. The home team is in big trouble having lost their first three wickets cheaply.

Bangladesh batted first after winning the toss

Najmul Hossain Shanto's decision to bat first after winning the toss backfired as they lost three of their top four within the first six overs. Wiaan Mulder's exceptional performance has managed to unsettle the Bangladesh batsmen by taking all three wickets so far.

The team captain, Najmul Hossain Shanto, went to bat when the team was two behind for 13 runs in the fourth over of the innings. As the leader of the team and one of the key cogs in Bangladesh's batting line-up, the southpaw should look to consolidate the innings for his team. However, his lack of game sense and sense of responsibility became apparent when he fell on a shot of opportunity and caused his team even more trouble in the sixth round.

Shanto caused his team even more trouble when he played a loose shot

On the fourth delivery of the over, Mulder bowled a full toss down mid-stump which Shanto flicked at mid-wicket for a boundary. On the next delivery, Mulder came around the wicket and bowled a similar length to the off and middle stump area. Shanto, in his sluggishness from the previous shot, tried again. But this time he only managed a lead which was taken by Keshav Maharaj at cover.
