Weather in Chicago: Sea-like showers and unseasonable cold are coming, with frost expected tonight

Lake effect showers are sweeping parts of the Chicago area this morning. It will be wet on the highways.

There have been a few thunderstorms with small hail and there is a possibility of water spouts over the lake. The rain axis will gradually shift eastward toward the evening, allowing showers to last longest in northwest Indiana.

There is some sun today, the further west you go the more. It will be unseasonably cool and highs are unlikely to rise much above 50 degrees. Frost is certain to be expected outside the city this evening, with a killing frost possible in the west.

Tomorrow will be mostly sunny and cool with highs in the 50s. Frost warnings are expected to be required again on Wednesday evening.

Thursday won't be as chilly, with highs in the lower to mid 60s. Sunny skies will prevail from Thursday through the weekend, with highs of 70° starting Friday.

A freeze warning has been issued for Lake, Northern Cook, DuPage, Will and Kankakee counties this evening. This will be added to the Freeze Watch for McHenry, Kane, Kendall, Grundy and western counties.
