Weeks before the concert, a Taylor Swift fan's tickets were hacked

UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS, Ohio (WOIO) – A fan of Taylor Swift is hoping Ticketmaster can help her get back $500 worth of tickets that were stolen from her account.

“I'm not going to lie, I was a little panicked,” Amanda Kopchak said, recalling the moment she found out the tickets were gone.

Kopchak said she bought the two tickets to Taylor Swift's Eras Tour stop in Indianapolis last year, securing two tickets for a trip with her friend, also named Taylor.

“He actually took me on the Reputation tour a few years ago,” she said, “so I felt like this was my way of getting back at him, we were super excited.”

Kopchak fell victim to hackers and was one of hundreds of fans across the country who had their tickets stolen by a stranger.

Sue McConnell of the Better Business Bureau of Greater Cleveland said Ticketmaster had been hacked before. Over 500 million people's information was stolen, and she shared the steps anyone affected by the breach should take.

“I would try anything. I would contact Ticketmaster immediately,” she said. “I would change my password and username. If you have your credit card information saved in your account, it’s best to release it.”

Kopchak contacted Ticketmaster customer service hoping for help or a chance at a refund, but so far has made no progress. 19 News also attempted to reach Ticketmaster for comment, but no one was available.

For now, Kopchak just hopes to still enjoy Taylor Swift on stage with her fellow Swiftie.

“I know he’ll understand,” she said. “If the worst comes to the worst – I can't do that – I think he'll just be more upset that this happened.”
