While much of Oklahoma was under a tornado watch Wednesday night or early Thursday morning, with severe thunderstorms and gusty winds moving across the plains, there were only two potential tornadoes near the state's eastern border.

Around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, the National Weather Service in Tulsa issued a tornado warning that also included the northeastern Oklahoma towns of Afton, Fairland and Bernice. The tornado moved northeast near Fairland, the weather service said.

Later, just after midnight, the weather service issued a tornado warning for Stilwell, as well as Dutch Mills, Arkansas, and Evansville, Arkansas. The tornado reportedly approached the Stilwell area from the southeast, and the tornado threat diminished within minutes of the storm's passage into Arkansas.

The National Weather Service has not yet confirmed the actual landfall of the tornadoes. The service typically dispatches teams to assess damage and confirm tornadic activity.
