Former President Donald Trump, considered a political outsider after losing the presidency in 2020 and an attack on the U.S. Capitol by his supporters, swept the polls on Wednesday with a decisive and overwhelming victory over Vice President Kamala Harris, securing a second term.

Born and raised in Queens, New York, Trump, 78, is one of the five children of real estate developer Fredrick Trump Sr. and Scottish immigrant Mary Anne MacLeod Trump. Trump attended the New York Military Academy in Cornwall, New York and later attended Fordham University in the Bronx and the Wharton School of Finance and Commerce at the University of Pennsylvania.

Trump entered the financial world with his family's real estate business, which he renamed the Trump Organization. After making a name for himself in the real estate industry, he starred in a reality TV show. In 2016, Trump was elected the 45th president. He lost his re-election in 2020 to Joe Biden.

Trump has been married three times and has a total of five children and ten grandchildren. Here's what you should know about Trump's family.

He has three children with Ivana Zelníčková

Trump married Ivana Zelníčková in 1977 and the couple had three children together – Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka and Eric – before separating in 1980. Ivana died in 2022 at the age of 73.

Donald Trump Jr., 46, who was an integral part of Trump's campaign, has five children with his former wife Vanessa. Ivanka Trump Kushner, 43, and her husband Jared Kushner, both former senior White House aides, have three children. Eric, 40, and his wife Lara Trump, co-chair of the Republican National Committee, have two children together.

He has another daughter with Marla Maples

From 1993 to 1999, Trump was married to actress Marla Maples and has a daughter, Tiffany Trump, 31. Tiffany is married to businessman Michael Boulos and the couple is expecting their first child together, People reported.

He has another son with his current wife, Melania Trump

Trump married Melania in 2005 and the couple has a son, Barron Trump, 18, a first-year student at New York University's Stern School of Business. The couple will celebrate their 20th wedding anniversary in January next year.

Trump has 10 grandchildren and one on the way

Trump has ten grandchildren from his three older children, Trump Jr., Ivanka and Eric. His fourth child, Tiffany, is expecting her first child, although it is not yet known when he is due.

The names of Trump's grandchildren are:

  • Spencer Frederick Trump, 12
  • Chloe Sophia Trump, 10
  • Arabella Rose Kushner, 12

Trump's eldest grandchild, Kai, 17, made her political debut onstage at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, in early July this year.

“For me he’s just a normal grandpa,” Kai said. “He gives us candy and soda when our parents aren’t looking. He always wants to know how we’re doing at school.”

The avid golfer shared that she and her grandfather share a love of golf.

“When we play golf together and I'm not on his team, he tries to get into my head and he's always surprised that I don't let him get to me,” Kai said. “But I have to remind him that I’m a Trump too.”

“A lot of people put my grandpa through hell and he’s still standing,” she had added.

Trump has four siblings

Trump has four siblings, three of whom are deceased. His sister Maryanne Trump Barry died in 2023 at age 86, while his brothers Fred Trump Jr. died in 1981 at age 43 and Robert Trump in 2020 at age 72. Meanwhile, his sister Elizabeth Trump Grau, 82, is keeping a low profile, according to the New York Times.
