Millions of Americans have cast their votes, either early in the last few weeks or in person at polling stations.

But the Associated Press cannot call races until polls close in their respective states.

Given the different time zones, this process will take place over the course of Tuesday night. Here's a breakdown of polling place closing times.

7 p.m. ET – 60 electoral votes are at stake

  • Georgia
  • Indiana*
  • Kentucky*
  • South Carolina
  • Vermont
  • Virginia

*Indiana and Kentucky are in different time zones; The earliest results will be seen at 6:00 p.m. ET.

7:30 p.m. ET – 37 electoral votes

  • North Carolina
  • Ohio
  • West Virginia

8 p.m. ET – 171 electoral votes

  • Alabama
  • Connecticut
  • Direct current
  • Delaware
  • Florida*
