Behind the scenes of “Yellowstone” Season 5, Part 2

The series' official YouTube channel released a behind-the-scenes look at how the cast and crew prepared for season five.

Why did Kevin Costner leave Yellowstone?

“I just wanted to let you know that I will not be returning,” Costner said in a video posted to his Instagram and social media pages the same day the Paramount Network announced a premiere date for the final “Yellowstone “episodes were announced on November 10th.

In an interview the day after his viral video was released, Costner told USA TODAY that he was tired of hoping for a return of “Yellowstone” during his extensive media tour to promote his Western film series “Horizon.” of the series was asked.

Media inquiries about John Dutton's return were the “overwhelming question that came up in almost every interview,” Costner said.

“Just with all the questions that have been asked (about 'Yellowstone'), the more I've thought about it… I just wanted to say this is a starting point,” Costner said. “Whatever I was hoping for might not be in sight. I don't want to keep saying, 'Yeah, I hope I can do it.' This has gotten to a point that I no longer think is realistic.

Costner said that in his return discussions with Paramount Studios and executive producer Taylor Sheridan, there was no specific act that triggered the spontaneous video. He didn't want to wait for optimism, which wasn't there.

“I just wanted to get this done,” Costner said of making the video. “I’m not a machine trying to figure this out. But I’m not the kind of person who lets people down.”
