College GameDay returns to the Lone Star State for one of Texas football's biggest regular season games.

With the Longhorns' first SEC matchup against No. 4 Georgia in Week 8, college football's preeminent pregame show, featuring Rece Davis, Nick Saban, Kirk Herbstreit, Desmond Howard and Pat McAfee, returns to Austin and DKR-Texas for a week Memorial Stadium back top-five matchup.

It's the first time “College GameDay” has returned to Austin since 2022, when then-No. 18 Texas hosted then-No. 4 TCU, where golfer Jordan Spieth was the guest picker. Could Spieth return as a guest player this time? Could it be Matthew McConaughey? Or could it be Scottie Scheffler, the world No. 1 and Olympic gold medalist in golf? Time will only tell.

Texas defeated Oklahoma 34-3 in the Red River Rivalry last week in the Cotton Bowl in Dallas. Quinn Ewers completed 20 of 29 passes for 199 yards with two total touchdowns in his first start back from injury. Meanwhile, Georgia is coming off two straight wins against Auburn and Mississippi State after losing to Alabama in Week 5.

“College GameDay” returns to DKR-Texas Memorial Stadium and Texas for the first time since 2022 and for the tenth time overall. ESPN picked the top-five SEC showdown between the Longhorns and Bulldogs over the third Saturday in October rivalry between No. 7 Alabama and No. 10 Tennessee, No. 11 Notre Dame at Georgia Tech and No. 8 LSU the Arkansas.

Saturday's episode of “College GameDay” marks the 24th time the Longhorns have appeared on the show and the second of this college football season, as “GameDay” took place in Ann Arbor for Texas' road game against Michigan in Week 2 . The Longhorns are 12-11 when featured on “GameDay,” as previously reported by the Austin American-Statesman.

As for the Bulldogs, Saturday marks the seventh time Georgia has appeared on GameDay in the last three seasons. Like Texas, Georgia has already been to College GameDay this season, in Week 5, when Kirby Smart's team was defeated by then-No. 4 Alabama at Tuscaloosa.

“College GameDay” will air nationally on ESPN, with players like Davis, Saban, McAfee and Herbstreit sitting at the “GameDay” desk to preview college football’s biggest storylines in Week 8. Lee Corso is expected to return to the “GameDay” desk after missing the past two weeks.

Who is the guest voter for College GameDay in Week 8?

Scottie Scheffler, the No. 1 golfer in the world, will be the featured guest picker for “College GameDay” on Saturday in Texas, the show will announce Thursday.

Although he was born in New Jersey, Scheffler spent much of his childhood in Dallas and graduated from Texas, where he was a standout on the Longhorns golf team.

The 28-year-old Scheffler is the reigning Masters champion and Olympic champion.
