Women's College Basketball Opening Day Watch Guide

The women's college basketball season is finally here. After a landmark season that saw several attendance and viewership records broken, the star power is still there and this season should remain similar. Eighteen of them Associated Press Top 25 Teams will play on opening day, but we'll use On3's rankings here.

If you have a busy Monday, ditch your plans and check out these games:

#24 Ole Miss vs. #1 USC in Paris (12 p.m. EST – ESPN)

The games in Paris are back and the first double is certainly one of the best games of the day. Ole Missa team with a real veteran core meets a team full of newcomers USC.

Storylines:

#5 UCLA vs. #14 Louisville in Paris (2:30 p.m. EST – ESPN2)

This is the best match of the day as two top 15 teams face off in Paris. UCLA returns their core from a season ago, while Louisville brings back several key pieces and adds a handful of impactful newcomers.

Storylines:

#2 South Carolina vs. Michigan in Las Vegas (7:30 p.m. EST – TNT, TruTV)

The reigning national champions, South Carolinaopen the season with a duel on a neutral pitch against an exhausted one Michigan squad. The Wolverines had six players enter the transfer portal, including Star Laila Pheliabut they have two highly regarded rookies who should see significant minutes.

Storylines:

  • Olivia Olson And Syla swords Impact of the jump on Michigan
  • Who will really play for the Wolverines this season?

Other interesting matchups:

Fairfield at Arkansas (7:30 p.m. – SECN+)

Fairfield, one of the best mid-majors in the country, has a tough schedule this season – and it starts on Opening Day. Arkansas lost a lot in the transfer portal, but a win against an SEC team would still be a huge resume boost for the Stags.

South at #11 Oklahoma (6 p.m. – SECN+)

It's a repeat of one of last season's best surprises. The Sooners lost 79-70 at home last season, but they are a stronger and more talented team this time around. Can Southern complete the upset in back-to-back seasons?

Green Bay at #13 Kansas State (12 p.m. – ESPN+)

Green Bay was one of the top mid-majors last season with a 27-7 record and wins over Creighton and Washington State. There's a new head coach in town Kayla Karius at the top — and this is a good chance to see a top-15 Kansas State squad against a team that returns all of its top scorers from last season.
