Woody Johnson: The Jets want to bring a lot of change this week

Jets owner Woody Johnson is excited for his team to win, and win this year.

Johnson spoke to reporters at the league meeting Shortly after it was announced that the Jets would be acquiring wide receiver Davante Adams in a trade with the Raiders, he hinted that more moves could be coming with the goal of quickly turning around the Jets' fortunes.

“We want to bring a lot of change this week. “It was unfortunate that I missed those kicks last night, but it was a competitive game,” Johnson said of Monday night's 23-20 loss to the Bills in which the Jets missed two short field goals.

Johnson wouldn't directly confirm the Adams trade, which hasn't been officially announced, but he acknowledged that quarterback Aaron Rodgers will be happy to be reunited with Adams.

“We know they played together. “Yeah, I mean, I think everyone would be interested,” Johnson said. “He contributes to the running game, he opens everything up. The relationship with the quarterback is particularly important.”

When asked if he wants to do whatever it takes to win now, Johnson told Dianna Russini of TheAthletic.com: “I’ll do absolutely anything. Everything.”

Johnson acknowledged there were still too many mistakes and penalties, but said he believed the Jets would come out with a winner.

“I expect all of those things to improve pretty dramatically,” Johnson said. “Based on what I saw yesterday, I think we’re going in a new direction.”

At 2-4, the Jets need to quickly translate this new direction into wins.
