Xavier Restrepo sets Miami football receiving records

The fifth-grader from Coconut Creek, Florida, entered the game against Duke needing eight catches to match the school record of 182 receptions set by Mike Harley from 2017 to 2021 and needing 120 yards to match the school record of 2,547 receptions reach yards set by Santana Moss from 1997 to 2000.

He broke both records with a 66-yard touchdown from Cam Ward in the fourth quarter.

Restrepo, the top receiver for Heisman hopeful Cam Ward, came into the game with 43 catches for 710 yards and six touchdowns. He ranked 30th nationally in receptions and 15th in yardage.

At 1.75 meters tall, Restrepo does not fit the archetype of a dominant pass catcher. But the Deerfield Beach High School product has been a shining light in Miami's offense, being named All-ACC First Team in 2023 with 85 catches for 1,092 yards (both second in the conference behind Virginia's Malik Washington) and six touchdowns.
