Yankees fan Austin Capobianco hopes he can watch the Bombers again sooner rather than later.

The Post first reported Wednesday that Capobianco and his friend were barred from attending Game 5 of the World Series after they tried to severely interfere with a foul ball caught by Dodgers right fielder Mookie Betts on Tuesday night.

In a follow-up, ESPN reporter Jesse Rogers spoke with Capobianco about the suspension Wednesday night.

According to Rogers, the fan said “he got a call from the Yankees this evening about his suspension.” I was told that if he or his friend tries to get in with other tickets, he or he will be arrested at the door. He hopes it’s a short-term ban.”

Capobianco immediately became a polarizing figure on social media, as some Yankees fans celebrate his interference as the potential moment that changed the dynamics of the World Series, while other observers want him arrested and/or banned from the Yankees for life Stadium is banned.

The Yankees confirmed in a statement that Capobianco and his friend have been held out of Game 5.

“The safety of players, fans and stadium staff is the fundamental element of every event at Yankee Stadium and must not be compromised,” the team said.

“Tonight is the last home game of the year and we want all the passion of our fans to shine through. Yankee Stadium is known for its energy and intensity, but exuberance in supporting your team should never cross the line and intentionally put players at physical risk. The Yankees and Major League Baseball have a zero-tolerance policy toward the type of behavior exhibited last night. These fans will not be allowed to attend tonight’s game in any way.”

In a particularly surreal twist, future Hall of Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski revealed that he knew Capobianco from their time together at the University of Arizona.

“Austin was a college friend. He has great passion for the teams he represents. I will do anything for her. He's also a menacing, wild boy and the kind of person who would undoubtedly say he would do that and then actually do it. Insanity status since college confirmed,” Gronkowski wrote on X.
