Zachary Levi Schools Whoopi says Hollywood is dying

Whoopi Goldberg tried to shame Zachary Levi last month for claiming it was “career suicide” to support Donald Trump in Hollywood.

However, Goldberg didn't have the facts on her side. Does this sound familiar?

Goldberg made her statement on “The View” in response to Levi publicly hugging the Republican Party's presidential candidate.

“We will take back this country. We'll make it great again, we'll make it healthy again. And so I stand with Bobby (Kennedy, Jr.) and I stand with everyone else who stands with President Trump. … Of the two options we have, and we only have two, President Trump is the man who can get us there,” Levi said.

That position, he said at the time, could be “career suicide” given the radical left-wing nature of Hollywood.

“Nonsense,” Goldberg said from her “View” seat. Politically speaking, the industry is roughly split down the middle, she said. Conservative actors should not be afraid to join the Republican Party.

Levin finally responded to Goldberg's assessment in a chat with fans on his Instagram page.

“To all the people on 'The View,' I don't think it's accurate to say that Hollywood is somehow both a liberal and a conservative town,” Levi said. “There might have been a little more balance before… but you really have to be at a certain level in your career (now) to really get through.”

As proof that the new “blacklist” doesn't exist, Goldberg cited “Reagan” star Jon Voight, who is openly conservative and worked steadily into his 80s. She also name-checked “Reagan” star Dennis Quaid.

“Just naming Jon Voight and Dennis Quaid… of the thousands of actors in Hollywood, of whom you could only name two, speaks to that. There are many, and by the way, they've sent me a lot of messages, a lot of people in my industry, in Hollywood, who are afraid to say publicly that they would vote for Donald Trump or be conservative in any way,” Levi continued . “That’s why you don’t see them. That's why they are not very common or prominent. You know this kind of shit has consequences.”

Levi suggested that conservative actors should start speaking out now. Why? Hollywood, Inc. is collapsing before our eyes.

“Our industry is going to be awesome. It already is,” he said. “The pandemic and the strikes have already severely undermined it. My call to all of you out there, you closed-minded conservatives and Trump voters: Now or never. Do whatever you need to do. If you have to come out publicly and say it, if you feel like you still can't do it, then don't do it. I would never pressure you into this. But know this: If what you're afraid of is somehow the backlash from an industry that won't exist any time soon, then don't let that hold you back,” he added.

Editor's note: It's a brutal time to be an independent journalist, but given the sorry state of the corporate press, it's never been more necessary. If you enjoy Hollywood in Toto, hopefully you'll consider leaving a coin (or two) in our tip jar.
